Heavy rainfall expected in next 48 hours due to depression over Jharkhand, West Bengal

A depression has formed over the state of Jharkhand and the adjoining Gangetic region of West Bengal. It has moved southwest and has set camp about 70 kilometres northeast of Ranchi. There has been no flood warning given out yet but the rainfall is expected to wreak havoc in daily life for residents in the mentioned states.

Heavy rainfall is expected in the region due to the pressure drop during the next 48 hours. Jharkhand, Odisha and Chattisgarh can expect to see heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days till the low pressure zone dissipate.

The low pressure zone is expected to move on towards Madhya Pradesh by August 4th, 2015. Other regions that can expect to receive isolated spells of heavy rainfall are Bihar and  Sikkim. Winds can get up to speeds of over 40 kilometres per hour in the next day unless the low pressure zone loses energy.
