Shimla, Oct 13: The sister-in-law of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday.
According to reports, Jyoti Sen joined the party along with Virbhadra Singh’s brother-in-law Vikram Sen and Prithvi Vikram Sen. The induction took place in the presence of BJP’s Himachal Pradesh in-charge Mangal Pandey.
“People from different walks of life are joining the BJP as they are influenced by the progressive and developmental policies of the party,” PTI quoted her as saying.
Sen had unsuccessfully contested 2012 assembly elections from Kasumpti as an independent candidate.
Assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh will be held on November 9 in a single phase. Counting will be held on November 18.Six-time Chief Minister of the state, Virbhadra Singh was announced as the Congress party’s chief ministerial candidate by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Singh had been embroiled in a power clash as party leadership had pushed for Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as chief ministerial candidate.
