Hyderabad, Oct 13: A 21-year-old engineering student committed suicide at her residence after posting on picture-sharing application Instagram that she was “happy to be afraid” and would “quit this…SOON”. C Mounika was allegedly scolded by her mother. Mounika hanged herself when she was alone at her home in Hyderabad. She was a final year B Tech student.

In an Instagram post, she wrote: “Nowadays I am afraid to be happy. I don’t know why people don’t want to look at me when I am happy in my life. Every moment in my life is going so worst. I am just passing out through them…by learning lessons from everything in my life. I hope I will quit this…” she wrote on Instagram before committing suicide.

In another case in Hyderabad, a man, identified as Shahed Hussain, committed suicide and recorded the whole act in a video on his phone. In the video, Shahed Hussain, said he was being “tortured over money” by some of his relatives. Hussain committed suicide at his store.

In the video, Shahed Hussain could be seen speaking with a noose around his neck. A suicide note was also found near him, in which he has accused five of his relatives who had been “torturing” him over the unpaid dues. He, in the suicide note, said that the relatives drove him to suicide.

In a third case, a 17-year-old Class 12 student, Samyukta, committed suicide citing pressure in studies. The girl hanged herself at her college in Madhapur. She was reportedly depressed over not doing well in studies.
