Hyderabad cop urinates in public, picture goes viral

Hyderabad, Aug 30: The photo of a policeman in Hyderabad reliving himself by a roadside has gone viral on the social media. The cop is seen peeing standing next to a parked police SUV which indicates that he is from Cyberabad. The cop has not been identified yet. A senior police official from East Cyberabad and West Cyberbad commissionaires said that they are trying to find the identity of the cop. The SUV’s registration number is however clearly visible (TS09 PA0811).

After the picture went viral on various social networking sites, people blamed the government for not having enough public toilets, while some were of the opinion an law enforcement officer should not resort to such an act in public. In February, Hyderabad police had started a campaign against public urination. The traffic cops had started garlanding people in public. The shame garlanding campaign was a request to stop urinating in public and use toilets instead. The initiative was a part of Swachh Bharat mission.

In many places in Hyderbabad, walls are painted with religious symbols to stop people from urinating in public. However, men who did not seem to be affected by the denotations relived themselves on the wall. It is after that the police started ‘Shame Garland’ campaign. However, this policeman does not seem to be aware about the initiatives by the traffic police in the city.

With Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, cleanliness and sanitation has been getting prime importance. 80 lakh toilets built have been built under Swachh Bharat campaign until now. The campaign is trying to solve the issue of open defecation in India, but behavioral change lacks behind. The Economic Survey had identified open defecation as a source of early life disease in India. The government has been actively urging people to use toilets through various campaigns.
