New Delhi, Mar 31: The Ministry of Railways on Saturday shared pictures of its recently launched first railway saloon coach on the microblogging site. The train started its maiden journey on Friday from old Delhi railway station to Katra in Jammu. With the pictures shared, we can have the look of beautiful interiors and world-class amenities.
The Ministry of Railways tweeted, “IRCTC is operating first Railway Saloon Coach tour departed yesterday from Old Delhi Railway Station. It is like a moving house having two exclusive bedrooms with attached bath, a large living cum dining room, kitchenette and rear window for watching the spectacular views.”

The train was till now available only for top Railway officials. The private coach was attached to Jammu train to make it open to the public.
The coach has two air-conditioned bedrooms; a twin bedroom and the other as in AC Ist Coupe. Both the bedrooms are with attached bathroom.
IRCTC has regarded it as moving house with world class amenities. The four-day journey started from March 30 will end on April 2.
The cost of chartering saloon coach will be Rs 2 lakh. In total, Railways has 336 saloon coaches and among them, 62 are air-conditioned.
During the journey, one AC attendant and one saloon attendant will be there to provide hassle-free travel to the passengers.
