J&K: Pakistan violates ceasefire in Poonch sector; Indian Army retaliates

Srinagar, June 22: Violating the bilateral ceasefire, Pakistan army has resorted to heavy shelling and firing on Indian positions on the line of control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch sector, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate. According to initial reports, Pakistan army opened fire in Poonch sector’s Khari Karmara. There were no reports of casualties. More details are awaited.

The Pakistan Army has been violating the bilateral ceasefire by resorting to indiscriminate shelling and firing, especially in Poonch and Rajouri districts. The Indian Army says it is being done by Pakistan to facilitate the infiltration of militants into the Indian side. On June 15, heavy exchange of fire happened between the Indian and Pakistan armies on Thursday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Naushera sector after Pakistan violated bilateral ceasefire.

The Pakistan army violated ceasefire at three places on the LoC on June 13, including the Naushera sector, following which the Indian Army killed two Pakistani soldiers in retaliation in Bhimber Gali sector of Poonch district.
