Srinagar, Sep 16: The Indian Army on Friday said that it would take action against the soldiers who were involved in showing disregard to the bodies of slain Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists – Abu Ismail and Chotta Qasim. This has come a day after two LeT terrorists Abu Ismail and Chotta Qasim were gunned down on a roadside in the Nowgam area of Srinagar.
According to a report by TOI, the Indian Army’s decided to take action after a video of a few soldiers dragging bodies of Abu Ismail, with a rope tied to their feet, circulated. In the video, soldiers were seen resting their foot on the chests of the Pakistani nationals. Defence ministry spokesman Col. Rajesh Kalia said that the Army has taken cognisance of the video and “suitable action will follow”.
Reacting to the video of the slain terrorists, LeT spokesman Mehmood Shah said that the inhuman treatment of martyrs’ bodies by the Indian forces is “unethical and unacceptable”. Shah also said that India is promoting an inhuman culture in its territory which would cause the country a great loss. “We will take revenge for our martyrs,” he added.
The video went viral on Thursday after the encounter ended. Following which, restrictions were imposed in Nowhatta, Gojwara, Bohri Kadal and Rajouri Kadal.
Abu Ismail, the mastermind of the attack on Amarnath pilgrims, was killed in just three minutes. According to the reports, the terrorists were unaware of the operation when they were zeroed in by the Indian Army. The two terrorists were planning a big militant strike in Kashmir after having moved to Srinagar.
