According to ANI, security forces were successful in foiling the infiltration bid. However, information about whether search parties have been deployed to hunt for the fugitives, has not come yet.

Jammu and Kashmir: 1 jawan injured as Army troops foil infiltration bid along LoC in Tangdhar

Srinagar, August 15: The security forces on Thursday foiled yet another infiltration bid by militants along the Line of Control in Tangdhar area of North Kashmir, reports said. According to the information that has been recieved till now, security forces fired at the unidentified persons who were attempting to cross the LoC and in the gun battle that ensued, at least one jawan has been reportedly injured. However, medical assistance has been provided to him. None of those attempting to infiltrate were either injured or captured. They were rather forced to flee the area and might be hiding in the surrounding forests.

According to ANI, security forces were successful in foiling the infiltration bid. However, information about whether search parties have been deployed to hunt for the fugitives, has not come yet. This comes even as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh attempts to start a dialogue to resolve tensions in the Valley. On Thursday, Singh hosted a joint press conference with Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, wherein they addressed the problems of the state and discontent amongst the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier this month, the security forces had foiled a similar infiltration bid, after terrorists had reportedy entered Nowhatta residential area of Srinagar. ALSO READ: Srinagar encounter: 5 militants killed as army foils infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir

Five militants had been killed in the encounter that took place on August 15. One jawan of the Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) had been killed in the encounter, while nine others were injured. The attack had begun when CRPF jawans were patrolling the area at about 8 am in the morning. For close to a month now, the Valley has been under curfew, after violence had erupted here in the aftermath of the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Wani was killed in an ancounter by the Indian Army, along with three others on July 9. At 67 civilians have been killed and thousands of others have been injured in the violence that followed Wani’s death.
