Guwahati, Apr 11: A youth from Assam, who had shifted base to Jammu and Kashmir to start a garment business, has allegedly joined terror group Hizbul Mujahideen. While the security agencies are verifying the reports, the mother of the man has said that she won’t even accept his dead body if the reports of him joining the terror group turned out to be true.
The revelation came when some photographs of Qumer-Uz-Zaman, a native of Jamunamukh in Hojai district, went viral on social media. The man was seen holding AK-47 rifles. His mother Shahira Khatun identified him. He had been missing since July last year.
Zaman hails from a middle-class family in the northeastern state. He had stayed in the US for four years. Upon his return, he shifted to Jammu and Kashmir to start a garment business. But he disappeared last year. The family had filed a missing person complaint with the police.
His mother said that the government can do anything it wants if Zaman has joined the organisation.
“The government can do whatever it wants with him if he has really joined it. I will not even accept his dead body. We are with the nation,” she was quoted by ANI.
Meanwhile, the Assam police and the Kashmir police have not confirmed that he actually joined the outlawed group. Kashmir IGP SP Pani said that the investigation is on. The police are in contact with the Assam police and all facts are being investigated.
