Srinagar, Apr 4: Two Central Reserve Police Force jawans of 164 Battalion died after a CRPF truck hit their motorcycle in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. The truck was reportedly attacked by the stone pelters. Three other personnel have been injured in the incident.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the unfortunate incident took place when CRPF troops were withdrawing after their day duty in the area.

However, informing about the incident, the Kashmir police claimed that the incident was reported from Kokernag. “CRPF vehicle pelted upon at Hillar, Kokernag with the result Driver lost control and met with an accident. Two CRPF personals died on spot and injuries to others. Officers on spot,” it tweeted.

The driver of the truck has been hit in his head and has been rushed to an Army hospital in Srinagar, the report said.

The jawans who have lost their lives have been identified as Riyaz Ahmed Wani and Nissar Ahmed Wani. Both of them belonged to Kashmir. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and initiated a probe.

“Our heartfelt condolences for CRPF men Riyaz Ahmed Wani and Nissar Ahmed Wani whom we lost in the Kokernag incident today. Police has registered case and investigation on,” Kashmir Police tweeted.

Earlier in the day, terrorists hurled grenade on a police-CRPF post in Shopian district of the state. No casualties or injuries were reported. However, the attack was strongly retaliated by the forces.
