Srinagar, Apr 6: A terrorist was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The encounter broke out during the Cordon-And-Search Operation (CASO) by the forces at Kangan area of the district. As per reports, speculation about 2-3 more terrorists hiding in the region are rife. Meanwhile, the operation is underway.
The slain terrorist has been identfied as Musavir Hasan Vani. The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from him.
Earlier on April 1, a total of 11 terrorists were gunned down in counter-insurgency operations in three different areas in South Kashmir in which three Army jawans and two civilians were also killed.
At a hurriedly called joint press conference of Army, police and CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police chief SP Vaid had called the operation as one of the biggest counter-offensives in recent times against terror groups operating in the Kashmir Valley.
The operations by security forces rendered a severe dent to militant groups such as the Hizbul Mujahideen and the Lashker-e-Taiba, officials had said.
