Srinagar, Feb 17:  On Friday, two local policemen were injured in central Kashmir’s Badgam district when militants hurled a grenade at a police patrolling party in Nowgam sector, officials said. A search operation is underway to nab the militants.

The grenade was hurled on the police party at Pohru chowk in Nowgam area at 6.40 pm, a police official was quoted by Outlook.

Immediately after the attack, a joint operation of Police and CRPF was launched in order to shun the militants down. The injured cops were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

On Tuesday, four jawans and four terrorists were killed in two separate gun battles in Bandipora and Handwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The first attack reported from Bandipora claimed the lives of 3 jawans and in the encounter one terrorist was killed. However, in the second attack in Handwara district, 3 terrorists were killed in an encounter.

In this CRPF Commanding Officer Chetan Kumar Cheetah, was grievously injured in the encounter with militants in North Kashmir, and is currently at AIIMS, fighting for his life.

On February 11, at Yaripora of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, four militants were killed during the gunbattle while two army jawans were martyred.

On January 15, four militants were killed during the gunbattle while two army jawans were martyred in in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
