New Delhi, July 11: Following the meeting of the leaders of Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday, it has been reportedly decided that Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav will be provided more time by the JDU which is in alliance with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the state. Since the Deputy CM came under scrutiny for his alleged involvement in corruption cases, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been demanding his resignation, which has been clearly declined by the RJD. According to sources, the JDU has decided to give more time to Yadav, before his fate is decided.
The crucial meeting of the JDU legislators was underway in Patna, following the corruption charges on RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav. While Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did not comment on the issue immediately even after the CBI conducted the raids, but the decision taken on Tuesday has been in line with what the Congress have been asking the parties in the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) in Bihar to maintain. The Congress have been repeatedly appealed the members of this alliance to maintain unity.
The Nitish Kumar government has earlier demanded resignation from five of its ministers for their alleged involvement in corruption and this is why the question of the fate of Tejashwi Yadav has been more important. However, CM Kumar has not publicly commented on the recent CBI charges, but alienation of Tejashwi Yadav is expected to lead to a rift between the JDU and RJD alliance.
In this regard, the BJP has been emphasising that it is ready to provide full support to Nitish Kumar, and in case of the RJD leaving its alliance with the JDU, the BJP reportedly will provide support to Kumar from outside. Bihar unit BJP president Nityanand Rai said that the BJP is ready to provide all the support the JDU needs if RJD alienates the alliance, but only after a decision is taken by the Party’s Central leadership.
