Jamshedpur, Feb 14: A 42-year-old labourer from Jharkhand travelled 600 km on his bicycle to find his missing wife. He was finally reunited with her in West Bengal’s Kharagpur last week.

Manohar Nayar, from Musabani’s Baligoda village, covered 65 villages during his quest. He pedalled 25 km daily for 24 days.

Nayar’s wife, Anita, went missing from her parent’s home in Kumrasol village on January 14. She had gone there for Makar Sankranti. When she didn’t return back after two days, he lodged a complain at Musabani and Dumaria police stations. After police could not provide any lead, Manohar decided to start the search for her all by himself.

He began the search operation for Anita, who is mentally unstable and unable to speak properly, on his bicycle. When he couldn’t locate her even after days of search, he approached the local newspapers and got her photo published in the missing persons’ column.

Soon, he was informed that Anita has been found. Some people, who had seen her photo in the newspaper, informed the Kharagpur police about her whereabouts. She was located sitting at a roadside eatery by the locals.

The couple was reunited on February 10 after Manohar produced both their Aadhaar cards at Kharagpur police station. They returned home on February 11.
