Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today condoled the death of noted journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, saying it has resulted in a "terrible loss" to the country.

Jammu, Nov 25: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today condoled the death of noted journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, saying it has resulted in a “terrible loss” to the country. “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of the veteran journalist and editor who made a huge contribution in the field of journalism,” the Chief Minister said.

Mehbooba also vividly remembered his interest in the affairs of the Jammu and Kashmir, especially as a part of the three-member interlocutors group for the state. She extended her sympathies to the bereaved family members of Padgaonkar and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Seventy-two-year-old Padgaonkar, a former editor of The Times of India, was unwell for the past several weeks and died at a hospital in Pune today, family sources said. He had also served as one of the three members of the interlocutors’ group on Jammu and Kashmir set up after continuous unrest in the Valley.
