Srinagar, July 17: A woman has reportedly been injured in unprovoked firing by Pakistan on Monday as it violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Manjakote in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. In a second incident, the Pakistani troops resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling on the Indian troops in Balakote area in Mendhar sector of Poonch district as well. Meanwhile, the Indian Army is retaliating strongly to both ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
Meanwhile, a CNN-News18 report states that the Rajouri District Collector has ordered closure of all the schools which are located near the LoC in the district.
Earlier on July 15, a soldier was martyred after Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Manjakot area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. Reportedly, 35-year-old Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer, from border district of Poonch in J&K, was hit during the firing and shelling by the Pakistani troops on the Indian forward posts.
Speaking to media, an Army Spokesperson said, “Pakistan Army has been violating the ceasefire on a regular basis. It has deliberately targeted civilian areas during these across the Line of Control firing incidents.” He added that the Indian Army has not suffered any casualty in the month of July in these unprovoked ceasefire violations.
Noteworthy, till now, there have been over 240 cases of ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) this year.
