New Delhi, Nov 10: The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council may on Friday consider reducing items in the 28 per cent tax slab and slash rates for daily use items, plastic products, and hand-made furniture as it looks to provide relief to consumers during its 23rd meeting in Guwahati, Assam.

Four months after the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was rolled out, the panel headed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will look at the most comprehensive overhaul of rates, easing returns filing and providing more relief to small and medium enterprises.

Shifting focus, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Pradyuman Thakur murder case has claimed that the Gurgaon police ‘botched up’ the probe in the case. It accused the officials of planting the knife on bus conductor Ashok. On Friday, the CBI is expected to take the detained 16-year-old Ryan International student to the school to take its probe further.

The smog in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) was relatively less on Friday however, the Particulate Matter levels are still over ten times than the prescribed standard in several parts of the city. In a bid to curb the increasing pollution, the Delhi government will be implementing the odd-even scheme in the national capital for five days starting from November 13.
