Mumbai, Sept 17: The Maharashtra unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) handed over a cheque of Rs 1.25 crore to its Bihar counterpart, for flood relief work. However, the saffron camp turned into a subject of ridicule on social media, after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav spotted a ‘scandal’.
The cheque handed over by Maharashtra BJP to Bihar unit chief Nityanand Rai and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, states the amount in digit as ‘Rs 1,25,00,000’, but in words, it is written as ‘Rs One Crore Twenty Lakh Only’.
The image prompted Tejashwi to accuse BJP of organising a fake event for Bihar flood victims. “Such a big fraud event! Mumbai BJP chief handing over cheque worth of “One Cr Twenty Lakhs” & 1,25,00,000 to Bihar BJP chief & central minister (sic),” the former Dy CM of Bihar posted on Twitter.
The floods in Bihar affected a total of 20 districts in the state. Nearly 482 people died and over 1.71 crore were affected.
