    Maharashtra Municipal Council Election Results 2017: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday emerged as the biggest gainer in the fourth and last phase of Maharashtra Municipal Council elections 2017. Of the 244 seats, the BJP bagged 100 seats in the last phase of Nagar Parishad polls, securing seven posts of Municipal Council President. The BJP won 1190 seats and 71 municipal council president posts, retaining overall top position after the four phase of local body elections in Maharashtra.

    Congress bagged 58 seats and won two council president posts. The party finished second overall, with 952 seats and 34 council presidents, at the end of final phase. NCP won 26 councillor seats and finished with 812 seats in total. The party also won 22 council president posts. It did not win any president’s post in the fourth phase.

    Shiv Sena which won 598 seats in three phases, won another 14 seats in the fourth phase finishing with 612 councillors. The party won 26 council president posts. It did not win a single council president seat in the last phase. AIMIM won a seat in Kamptee, while 18 seats in Katol were secured by ‘Vidarbha Maza’ party and four by PWP. In Saoner, Rashtriya Samaj Paksha won three seats.

Mumbai, Jan 9: The Maharashtra Municipal Council Election Results 2017 will be declared today, January 9. Counting of votes for the fourth and last phase of municipal council (Nagar Parishad) election results in Maharashtra will begin at 10 AM. In the last phase of Maharashtra municipal council elections, polling was held in 244 seats of 11 local bodies in Nagpur and Gondia districts of Vidarbha. In the fourth phase of the Maharashtra Municipal Council elections 2017, 92 candidates are in the fray for 11 municipal council presidents and 1191 candidates for councillor posts on 244 seats. The 11 municipal councils are – Kamthi, Umred, Katol, Kalameshwar, Mohpa, Ramtek, Narkhed, Khapa and Saoner in Nagpur district besides Tirora and Gondia in Gondia district. An average 67.36 percent (primary figure) voter turnout was registered on Sunday for the final phase of the Maharashtra Municipal Council polls. This is the last of the four-phase local bodies polls which began from October 17, last year.

There are a total 192 nagar parishads and 20 nagar panchayats in Maharashtra. After three phases of local bodies polls in Maharashtra, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading with 1090 councillor seats and 64 Municipal Council President posts. Congress comes a close second with 894 seats. NCP has bagged 786 seats and Shiv Sena 598. The rest have been won by local outfits, Independents and other political parties. Of the 180 posts of Municipal Council President, BJP won 64, while Congress 33. NCP bagged 21 and Shiv Sena 26.
