Mumbai, Nov 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah has congratulated the party on its impressive victory in Maharashtra Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections. As per the official results declared so far, BJP has emerged the number one electoral force, bagging 50 of the 147 councils contested. BJP is being trailed by Congress at the number two spot, which has won 24 councils. According to Amit Shah, the victory validates the fact that masses are behind Narendra Modi on demonetisation. He has also advised the Opposition to read BJP’s victory post-demonetisation as a wake-up call.

“BJP has emerged as the largest party, I thank people of Maharashtra for their continued support and faith in BJP’s development politics,” Amit Shah said, congratulating Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and party’s state unit chief Rao Saheb Danve. “Congratulations to karyakartas of @BJP4Maharashtra , CM @Dev_Fadnavis & @raosahebdanve for excellent performance in Municipal polls (sic),” he added.

Amit Shah also slammed the Opposition, and suggested them to reconsider their stance on demonetisation. “Maharashtra result should be a wakeup call for opposition attempting to mislead people on #Demonetisation, a decision in national interest,” he said.
