Ahmedabad, Dec 8: The elections to Mahuva, Talaja, Gariadhar, Palitana, Bhavnagar Rural, Bhavnagar East, and Bhavnagar West assembly constituencies of Bhavnagar in Gujarat would go to polls on December 9 in the first phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017. The polling will begin at 7 AM and would continue until 5 PM on December 9. The votes of polling to assembly constituencies of Mahuva, Talaja, Gariadhar, Palitana, Bhavnagar Rural, Bhavnagar East, and Bhavnagar West would be counted on December 18 and the results would be declared on the same day.

While Mahuva, Talaja, Gariadhar, Palitana, Bhavnagar Rural, Bhavnagar East, and Bhavnagar West assembly constituencies are currently held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Palitana assembly constituency is held by the Indian National Congress (INC). Mahuva Assembly Constituency

In Mahuva assembly constituency, the contest is between BJP’s candidate Raghvjibhai Makvana and Congress party’s Vijaybhai Baraiya. In 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections, Makwana Bhavanabhai Raghavbhai swept the Mahuva assembly constituency on the BJP ticket with a total of 57,498 votes. Raghavbhai defeated Independent candidate Bharatkumar Bhaskarrao Thakar who had managed 29,146 votes in Mahuva constituency.

Talaja Assembly Constituency

In Talaja assembly constituency, the main parties contesting include the BJP and Congress party. BJP’s Gautambhai Gopalbhai Chauhan is contesting against Kanubhai M. Baraiya, who is contesting on the Congress ticket. The current MLA of Talaja assembly constituency is BJP’s Shyal Bharatiben Dhirubhai who had won the 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections.

Gariadhar Assembly Constituency

The sitting MLA of Gariadhar assembly constituency is BJP’s Keshubhai Hirjibhai Nakrani who had won the 2012 Gujarat assembly elections by a margin of 16,028 votes. In the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017, the candidates contesting in Gariadhar are Keshubhai Hirjibhai Nakrani from BJP and P.M. Kheni from Congress party.

Palitana Assembly Constituency

The Palitana assembly constituency is held by Congress’ Pravinbhai Jinabhai Rathod who had defeated BJP’s Sarvaiya Mahendrasinh Parakramsinh by 14,325 votes. In the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017, the main contenders are BJP and Congress. While BJP has fielded Bhikhabhai Baraiya, Congress has, this time, fielded, Pravinbhai J. Bhavnagar Rural Assembly Constituency

The Bhavnagar Rural assembly constituency is going to polls in the first phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017 on December 9. The polling for Bhavnagar Rural assembly constituency would begin at 7 AM and continue until 5 PM. A total of two parties – BJP, and Congress – are in the fray in Bhavnagar Rural constituency. Bhavnagar East assembly constituency is currently represented by Vibhavariben Vijaybhai Dave who had won 85,375 votes against 45,867 managed by INC’s Joshi Rajeshbhai Mahendrabhai (Rajesh Joshi) in the 2012 Gujarat Assembly Elections. The Bhavnagar West assembly constituency will go to polls on December 9 in the first phase of Gujarat Assembly Elections 2017. The candidates contesting in Bhavnagar West are Jitubhai Vaghani from BJP who is also the current MLA of the assembly constituency, Dilipsinh A. Gohil from the grand-old Congress party and Pratapbhai Patel from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
