New Delhi, Nov 13: Security agencies at the Cochin airport were sent into a tizzy after a Jet Airways staff reported a man talking about a ‘happy bomb’. The man was detained by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and taken away for further questioning.

According to reports, man named Clince Varghese boarded Jet Airways flight 9W 825 which was scheduled to fly to Mumbai on Monday afternoon. A Jet Airways worker reported to security agencies that he heard a man talking about a “happy bomb”.  (Also Read: Spark, Smoke in Laptop Bag Trigger Panic in IndiGo Flight)

Security agencies at the Cochin airport swung into action immediately and detained Verghese, who belongs to Thrissur. He was offloaded the flight and his baggage was searched thoroughly.

During investigation, Verghese told the police that he was just expressing happiness to his friend that he is coming to Mumbai while chatting with him over social media.

“The airline has informed the authority concerned of the same for further necessary action and has offered full cooperation as required,” a Jet Airways spokesperson said.

The flight was allowed to fly to Mumbai only after an extensive search. The incident delayed the flight for over two hours.
