Manohar Lal Khattar congratulates Anil Vij for Haryana players’ good performance
The Chief Minister was speaking at the launch of 'Khelega Haryana-Badhega Haryana' here today, a programme for spreading awareness towards importance of health and fitness in life.
Ambala, Feb 22 : Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today congratulated his Sports minister Anil Vij for “commendable achievements” by Haryana players in the recently concluded National Games at Kerala. Haryana had secured second position in medal tally by bagging 107 medals including 40 each gold and silver, and 27 bronze. The CM hoped that Haryana players will continue maintain such “outstanding performance in future.” Speaking on the sidelines of a function here, Khattar congratulated Vij, who holds the portfolios of Health, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister. Notably, Vij had recently hogged the headlines over his jibes on Twitter, though BJP senior leader Anil Jain had later said that media was trying to read “too much” into it and all was well between him (Vij) and Chief Minister Khattar.
Jain had asserted that there were “no differences” between Vij and Khattar after the Sports Ministers in his tweets had indicated that he was being sidelined. In one of his recent tweet, Vij had mentioned “Thank You Chief Minister For Taking Keen Interest into My Departments. I am Relaxed.” Meanwhile, Khattar said that Haryana government has decided to set up Gymnastic Academy at Ambala having residential facilities up to 100 children and two indoor stadiums in every district with a cost of Rs one crore each.

On the occasion, the Khattar announced to lay Football Astroturf and Synthetic Track for athletics at War Heroes Memorial stadium, Ambala Cantt.
Underlining the importance of sports and exercises, Khattar urged the people to make sports an inseparable part of their lifestyle and include it in their daily routine. He said that no separate time is required for the same as only time management in daily schedule is enough. “Spare a short time whether in morning or evening, on Saturday and Sunday and make an effort to bring the change in routine lives,” he said.
Khattar said that in a number of circumstances a person falls on wrong path due to stress that could lead to drug addiction and reason of one’s downfall. “We have to keep our youth away from such ill practices and sports can very well play an important role in this direction. There is a sound mind in sound body and we can achieve our targets by way of sports activities,” he added. On the occasion, Khattar and Vij participated in a marathon.
Speaking on this occasion, Vij said that objective behind organising the marathon was to spread awareness about importance of sports and the need to stay healthy. Vij, the Ambala Cantt MLA, said that present state government had formulated a new Sports policy “which is also a physical fitness policy”.
Under this, government’s endeavor was that youth should adopt sports not merely for medals but also for ensuring fitness in their life. He announced that the probable participants of Olympic Games 2016 would be given intensive coaching by employing international coaches.
