New Delhi, Nov 30: Bharatiya Janata Party President Amit Shah on Wednesday appointed Manoj Tiwari as the Delhi unit chief, an official statement said. “Manoj Tiwari will replace Satish Upadhyay as BJP chief with immediate effect,” the statement said. It also declared BJP MP Nityanand Rai as the Bihar unit chief. While Manoj Tiwari will replace Satish Upadhyay, taking over as the BJP president of Delhi, Nityanand Rail will replace Mangal Pandey in Bihar.
Bhojpuri actor turned politician Manoj Tiwari is BJP’s prominent ‘purabiya’ face. Manoj Tiwari has a huge following among the migrant Bhojpuri speaking voters from Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The report about Manoj Tiwari’s elevation first surfaced in May this year after BJP received a drubbing in the MCD by polls.
The 50-year-old Nityanand Rai is an MP from Ujiarpur, Bihar. Nityanand Rai had continuously represented Hajipur constituency in Bihar legislative assembly between 2000 to 2010 winning elections twice.
