New Delhi, Mar 24: A day after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) lost to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the ninth seat to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh, BSP chief accused the saffron party of indulging in malpractices to ensure that BSP candidates don’t win. “BJP did not deter from indulging in malpractices. They exerted all their force to ensure that the BSP candidate does not win at any cost. The entire system was deployed to ensure that the newly formed ties between BSP and SP loosen,” the BSP chief was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“I would like to tell BJP and company that their malpractices will not succeed in breaking the ties between SP and BSP. Yesterday’s results have not affected the SP-BSP tie up in any way, not even by an inch,” she said, adding that this “immoral” victory cannot make up for their defeat in Gorakhpur and Phulpur. “Even BJP is aware of this,” Mayawati said while addressing media. On Rajya Sabha election results, Mayawati said that she and her party share the same views just like everyone else. “We share the same views on yesterday’s result just like any one else. We believe Narendra Modi and Amit Shah used the system to make their candidates win. An environment of fear was created due to which there was also some cross-voting done. This immoral victory cannot make up for their defeat in Gorakhpur and Phulpur,” she said.

On the SP-BSP ties, Mayawati said that it was done so that no BJP candidate wins. “A plan had been made that we come together so that the BJP candidate couldn’t win the election. It was also tried to make an effort to ensure that this election does not become a blot on the face of democracy,” ANI quoted Mayawati. “If I had been in place of Akhilesh Yadav, I would have given first priority to BSP candidate rather than the SP candidate,” she told reporters in Lucknow.

Earlier in the day, Sanjay Nishad of Nishad Party said that BJP indulged in malpractices in the Rajya Sabha polls. “You know how BJP indulges in malpractices. They succeeded. Vijay Mishra has been suspended as he went against ideology of party & betrayed people. A whip had been issued to cast vote in favor of Bhim Rao Ambedkar, he acted against duty of alliance.”

The remarks came Nishad party MLA from Gyanpur, Vijay Mishra, supported Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate in Rajya Sabha elections for 10 seats from Uttar Pradesh. “There is my open support for BJP candidate.I am not going to vote for any other party’s candidate,” Mishra had said. He also cleared that he is not joining BJP as of now but he will fully support the party.
