Mohali, March 20: A 40-year old man Aikom Singh Dhillon was shot dead allegedly by his wife on Saturday night. Seerat Kaur, the wife, reportedly shot her husband, then stuffed his body in the suitcase, then kept the suitcase in the car and fled from there. Seerat was arrested by the police on Sunday from SAS Nagar. She reportedly said that the bitterness in the couple’s relationship post-marriage forced the wife to such a drastic step. SAS Nagar SSP was quoted by Hindustan Times, saying that the accused admitted to the crime and said that she did not share a good relation with her husband.

SHO Baljinder Singh said that after the police opened the suitcase, the deceased was identified and as per the investigation, it is found that Seerat had shot her businessman husband with a 9mm pistol right in the head.

The police said that upon searching the entire house, they also found their kids. The couple had married 12 years ago and had two children, 10-year-old son, and a 6-year-old daughter. The family of four was living in a rented house in Mohali from the past 15 days.

As per the cops, their landlord did not know anything about it until he was apprised of the situation. Satinder, the landlord of the couple, told Mohali police that the couple earlier used to stay in Sector 40, Chandigarh.

An autorickshaw driver had informed the cops about this as Seerat, the accused, had asked him to help her put the suitcase in the car. The driver informed the cops that he saw blood coming out of the suitcase when he tried to put it in the boot of a BMW car. After this, cops had come to arrest Seerat, but she, with her mother and brother, had fled leaving the boot of the car open and a case of murder has been registered against the three. The culprit is the niece of former Congress MLA Ajit Inder Singh.
