Kolkata, Apr 17: Cricketer Mohammed Shami has been summoned by the Kolkata police for questioning in connection with the complaint filed against him by his wife Hasin Jahan, reported ANI.

Reports said that the police asked him to be present at 2 pm on Wednesday for interrogation. Shami is one of the main pacers for IPL’s Delhi franchise. Shami’s wife had said that she had approached IPL’s Delhi franchise not to take him in the team.

Shami’s estranged wife Hasin Jahan had alleged that the cricketer had affairs with other women. She had shared the screen grabs of the purported chats on the social media. She had also alleged that Shami had been involved in match-fixing.

The BCCI had set up a probe against Shami to investigate the match-fixing allegations. However, it later gave a clean chit to the pacer. The body also issued a central contract for him.

Hasin Jahan also levelled serious charges against family members of Mohammed Shami. She had alleged that his brother and mother tortured her and tried to kill her. Shami and his four family members were booked under Sections 307, 323, 376, 506, 328 and 35 in the Indian Penal Code.

Shami had denied the charges, saying he and his family members were innocent. He was retained by IPL’s Delhi franchise for a whopping Rs 3 crore.
