New Delhi, April 17: Train commuters in Mumbai, using the Central Railway line, will have to use alternative means routes to reach their destinations today, April 17. Due to a technical glitch between Kopar – Dombivli, the train service on the Central line was affected.

The central railway took to the micro-blogging site to inform its commuters, “Due to some technical issue between Kopar – Dombivli on down through/fast line, traffic was diverted on down slow for some time hence there is some delay in down suburban traffic. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted. Issue resolved. Traffic is now been normalized.

Central Line Railway authorities have expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to commuters. Disruption of trains on the busy line has caused panic among the commuters. At this time, most people leave their offices for their homes. For day-to-day commuters, the Railways is a lifeline. The disruption of services adds to their daily stress.

Recently, students’ stopped local train services between Matunga and CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) of the Central Line.  The students are reportedly protesting over jobs in railways. The protesters have alleged that they have cleared all examination but did not get a job.

In January as well, the local train services on the central railway line came to a halt for over five hours due to the violent protests in several parts of Mumbai with people damaging a BEST bus, blocking roads and holding rail roko. The Harbour line services were delayed by around 15 minutes then after the protest.
