Mumbai monsoon: City to receive very heavy rainfall in next 24 hours

Mumbai, June 26: Mumbai witnessed heavy downpour on Sunday, June 25. It started raining on Saturday night and continued till Sunday morning and then for the entire day, at many places. The heavy showers led to water-logging at several places. There was also high tide in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon. The weather department predicts that it will rain heavily in next 24 hours.

According to Skymet Weather forecast, rains in Mumbai are expected to intensify during the next 24 to 48 hours. Along with heavy showers, the city will also witness thunderstorm weather conditions on Monday, June 26. The incessant rains from Saturday night have affected the normal functioning of the city. There was water-logging in places like Sion, Kurla, King’s Circle, Dadar, Hindmata, Thane, Andheri, and Borivali. At many places, traffic was moving quite slow, thus, leading to traffic congestion on the roads.

There was also water accumulation on the tracks of Thane station. Since there was a power mega block for 6 hours on the Central Railway yesterday, commuters had a tough time travelling in the train as around 120 local trains were dysfunctional on Sunday. Even the Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that Mumbai will receive heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
