Mumbai monsoon: Continuous rainfall affects local trains; heavy rains expected for next 2-3 days

Mumbai, June 28: The heavy rainfall in Mumbai from last few days has affected the normal life of Mumbaikars. The weather department predicts more such good showers for the next 2-3 days. The city will also witness thunderstorm. The local train services have been affected due to rains in Mumbai. The Skymet Weather forecast informs that in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday in Mumbai, Colaba Observatory recorded 67 mm of rain. On the other hand, Santa Cruz Observatory received 39 mm. The Skymet has predicted moderate to heavy showers few more days. However, the weather will be pleasant in the city.

On Tuesday, June 27, the city’s lifeline was affected as Harbour and Central trains were running late for 15-20 minutes from their scheduled timings. There was also some technical glitch at the Kurla station that slowed down the train services. There was water-logging in many places like Dadar, Kurla, Matunga, Ghatkopar, Andheri, Powai, King’s Circle. Mumbai also witnessed high tide yesterday at around 2.30 PM.

The Wednesday morning was no different. The morning starting with heavy pourings that affected the train services on the Central and Harbour lines again. There were announcements made at the stations that trains on both the lines will be running late for 15 minutes. Apparently, harbour trains are running super slow with a train stuck at the Mankhurd station. People are annoyed with disruption in local services with at the beginning of the rainy season in Mumbai itself. Even traffic in some areas is moving slowly due to incessant and heavy rainfall from last 3-4 days.
