Mumbai, Nov 15: A 10-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped and then murdered by a distant relative in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon. The accused relative had picked the boy up from his house saying they would go out to play, TOI reported. The accused, identified as Amar Singh, has been arrested along with an accomplice.

The accused later told the police that he had kidnapped Ritesh, a class IIIrd student, with an intention of demanding a ransom of Rs 2.5 lakh from his father. The victim’s father Babloo works as an electrician. The day Ritesh was kidnapped, Babloo called up Amar Singh to inquire about his son.

According to the reports, Amar Singh immediately took the boy to Bhayander and smashed his face with a boulder at one of his friends’ shop. Singh and his friend later joined Ritesh’s parents to look around for the boy.

In January 2017, a 16-year-old boy, also a distant relative, was arrested for a cold-blooded murder of a nine-year-old. The accused later told the police that he killed the boy to eat the victim’s flesh. He told the police that he removed the victim’s heart and threw it on the premises of his Holy Heart Senior Secondary School to bring a bad name to the school.

“The accused said he lured Deepu with a kite string and took him to his house on January 17. His parents were not present at home at that time. He strangulated Deepu to death,” the DCP said.
