New Delhi, Nov 11: Mumbai Traffic Police on Friday towed away a car in which a sick woman was breastfeeding her seven-month-old son in the rear seat. The incident took place in Malad West and it came to light after a local shared the video on social media.
As seen in the video, the woman is begging before the traffic policeman believed to be Shashank Rane. As per News 18, the cop did not have a name badge while he was on duty. The woman even displayed her medical prescription and told the person making the video that she was sick and was breastfeeding her child.
Reports suggest that passer-bys also heard the plea of the mother who repeatedly asked the policeman to stop towing as something unexpected could happen to the two passengers inside, but the cop turned deaf to the woman and continued to talk on his mobile phone.
Also, the perturbed woman claimed that there were two other vehicles which were not towed. Following public outrage on social media, a probe into the incident has been ordered by traffic police department. Speaking to News 18, Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Mumbai police, said that in this matter an urgent probe would be conducted.
“Ordered my team to trace out the truth immediately. We will handle the case in a proper manner, ” assured Kumar.
