New Delhi, April 9: Mumbaikars have to face delays if they are travelling in and out of Mumbai Airport on Monday and Tuesday due to the pre-monsoon maintenance work on the main runway. The routine exercise to remove rubber deposits on the runway will be carried out on April 9 and 10 for six hours each day between 11 AM and 5 PM.
Though, the secondary runway will be functional during the maintenance work, several flights are expected to be rescheduled and cancelled.
On Sunday, Jet Airways had released a list of rescheduled and cancelled flights on its website. Passengers travelling on April 9 and 10 must visit their site to know about the changed timings. The airline also issued a statement on its official website, which reads,”Due to pre-planned maintenance activities before the monsoon season, the runway at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport will be closed on Apr 9, 2018 and Apr 10, 2018 from 1100 hrs to 1700 hrs. Guests planning their travel during this period are requested to allow for sufficient time, in case of delays, while making their bookings.”
Earlier this year, several flights were delayed and cancelled after a similar block of shutting the main runway was carried out by Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) authorities.
