Mumbai, Nov 29: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Nawab Malik was reportedly targeted by unidentified gunman in Mumbai. Nawab Malik was targeted in Mumbai’s Chembur locality. Fortunately, he escaped the assault with no injuries. Malik has accused former NCP MP Sanjay Dina Patil of planning the attack. After surviving the assault, Malik openly accused Patil of orchestrating the attack against him.
According to Lokmat, Malik was addressing a public meeting in Deonar area, when supporters of Sanjay Dina Patil attempted to enter his event. Ruckus was created and subsequently shots were reportedly fired at Malik. No injuries have been reported.
Mumbai Police is expected to begin investigation in the matter shortly. A search operation will be initiated shortly to nab the gunman. Further leads in the case would be revealed after the prima facie investigation.

The NCP strongman is known for his grip in Mumbai politics. He was formerly elected from Anushakti Nagar constituency falling in Mumbai region. He has also served as the state cabinet minister during the erstwhile Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra. Malik was defeated from his constituency in 2014 by Shiv Sena candidate Tukaram Kate.
