New Delhi, April 6: Nine farm workers, all women, were killed and many injured when a tractor – trolley in which they were travelling fell into the AMRP (Alimineti Madhava Reddy Project) canal in Nalgonda, Telangana early on Friday morning.

There were total 30 people in the tractor when the accident happened. All these people were chilli farmworkers travelling to Pulicherla from Padmati village for their daily work. As per the media reports, the driver was speaking on his mobile phone and lost control over the steering and the tractor carrying more than a dozen of people fell into the irrigational AMRP canal near Waddipatla Village of Pedda Adiserla Palli Block, as reported in The Hindu.

However, as soon the incident took place, the nearby villagers reached the spot to help the victims. The police also as reportedly said rushed to the spot, rescued the nine dead bodies and the further rescue operation is going on.

The people died in the accident have been identified as, Ramavath Jeeza (65), Jarulula Dwali (30), Ramavath Lakshmi (50),  Ramavath Keli (50), Ramavath Kamsli (50), Ramavath Sona (70),Banavath Beri (55), Ramavath Bharati (36), Ramavath Sunitha (30).
