Jaipur, Nov 24: A man, identified as Chetan Saini, was found hanging this morning at Jaipur’s Nahargarh fort with a threat scribbled on stones. The victim’s brother, Ram Ratan Saini, alleged murder and claimed that his brother cannot commit suicide. Saini also demanded a high-level probe into the death of his brother. Speaking to ANI, Saini said, “My brother cannot commit suicide, it appears to be a murder. Will demand for an investigation into the death. He has nothing to do with the threat scribbled on the rocks.”

Speaking to News18, Ram Ratan Saini said that his brother had been missing since 5 PM last evening. Saini had tried calling his brother on his mobile number but it was unreachable.

Earlier in the day, a local jeweller Chetan Saini was found hanging at Jaipur’s famous Nahargarh fort main gate. On the stones nearby was scribbled “Hum sirf putle nahi latkate (We don’t just hang effigies)”. Another graffiti read, “Padmavati ka virodh (Protest against Padmavati)”. The Jaipur police reached the spot and are investigating the case. It is, however, not known if this is a case of a suicide or a murder.

Karni Sena, which has been leading the massive protests against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Padmavati condemned the incident and said: “it should not have happened.” Expressing shock over the incident, Actor Alia Bhatt took to Twitter and said, “This is what happens when violent threats are allowed to made openly without punishment! What is happening? Shocked!”

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 190-crore movie Padmavati has drawn massive protests in Rajasthan with Karni Sena accusing Bhansali of “distorting the history”. Karni Sena has alleged that Bhansali disrespected queen Padmavati in the movie where he has suggested that she was romantically involved with Alauddin Khilji.

Bhansali, on the other hand, denied inclusion of any such scene in the movie. It should be noted that the Karni Sena hasn’t watched the movie. The Karni Sena has declared that they will not let the film release even it gets cleared by the censor board.

As the protests against Padmavati spread across India, Shree Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS) president Mahipal Singh Makrana threatened actress Deepika Padukone, portraying queen Padmavati in the movie Padmavati, that her nose will be chopped off if she continues to provoke the sentiments of the people. A bounty of Rs 10 crore was also announced on the heads of Bhansali and Padukone by a senior BJP leader from Haryana.

The convenor of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena, Lokendra Singh Kalvi has called for a nationwide bandh on December 1, the day Padmavati was supposed to release in the Indian cinema halls.

While the movie’s release date was postponed in India, the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) cleared the movie without any cuts. However, the producers of the movie said that they wouldn’t release the movie until they have the Indian censor board’s nod for the release.
