New Delhi, October 13: Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of self-styled godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, has been sent to judicial custody till October 23 by the Panchkula district court. Her accomplice Sukhdeep Kaur (wife of Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s driver Iqbal Singh) has also been sent to Ambala jail to judicial custody for 10 days. On October 23, both of them will appear before the court through video-conferencing.

The police have informed the district court that a mobile phone had been recovered from Honeypreet. No laptop has been recovered from her so far, the police added.

According to the media reports, she has confessed to her role in sparking a violence in Panchkula after a CBI special court convicted Ram Rahim in the 2002 rape case. The August 25 violence had claimed 35 lives and injured hundreds of others. Honeypreet had chalked a map of Panchkula and the towns nearby before the violence broke out, India Today reported.

Dera Sacha Sauda chairperson Vipassana Insan also confessed to her role in the Panchkula violence during questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The SIT had formed close to 30 questions that were also framed on the statements given by the accused arrested. As per the Times of India report, Vipassana allegedly admitted that Dera followers were asked to perform “satsang”  in case Ram Rahim was exculpated and if the decision would go against him then they were directed to become violent.

A meeting was held a week before the verdict of Ram Rahim in which it was planned that Dera followers would assemble in Panchkula.

The SIT had interrogated Honeypreet for six days and told the court that her phone, which is yet to be recovered, has vital videos. Sukhdeep Kaur informed police that Honeypreet’s mobile was either hidden in a Tarn Taran, village in Punjab, or was in Bijnore Uttar Pradesh.
