    Parliament LIVE Updates: In the backdrop of repeated disruptions by Opposition over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation drive, both the Houses of the Parliament started to function on the eleventh day today but failed to do any major work again. Early today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with top Ministers in his chamber in Parliament. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu and Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar were amongst the ministers who were present in the meeting.

    As chaos escalated further in Lok Sabha, speaker Sumitra Mahajan tried to calm the outraged opposition leaders before adjourning the House for the day. She said, “Let us all start from scratch and discuss what is the issue. Why is so much annoyance? Let us at least try to discuss the issue (of demonetisation)”. Mahajan listens to matters of importance from lawmakers from Rajasthan and Karnataka.

    As Rajya Sabha opened post adjournment, all the Opposition leaders in the house raised the Nagrota army base attack issue, creating a ruckus on Tuesday. Congress MP Rajiv Shukla said in Rajya Sabha that the government is answerable for the security lapse and the killing of seven Indian security men in Nagrota and Chamliyal attacks on Tuesday. Shukla also moved Rajya Sabha for condolence to the jawans killed on Tuesday.

    Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi replied saying, “We will never forget the sacrifice of the slain soldiers. We will avenge. We will give strong and befitting reply.” All the leaders walked up to the deputy chairman after Naqvi’s reply thus stalling the proceedings.

    Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar said if Opposition agrees for a discussion, Government is ready for a debate on all aspects. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla said, “If raising issue of paying tribute to soldiers in House is disrespecting them; they (BJP) must learn nationalism lessons again”.

New Delhi, Nov 30: Opposition leaders today met again before Parliament session commences for the eleventh day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired a meeting with top Ministers in his chamber in Parliament. Among those present were Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information & Broadcasting Venkaiah Naidu and Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers Ananth Kumar. The Winter Session will go on for 22 sittings of which 50 percent of the sittings are already over but the Upper House and the Lok Sabha have still not been able to table crucial bills.

As per reports, the Opposition parties are likely to raise the Nagrota Attack issue in both the Houses today. The Opposition leaders also sought an appointment from the President to discuss on The Taxation Laws(2nd Amendment) Bill,’16, which was passed in Lok Sabha yesterday.

Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Ananth Kumar today requested Congress and other Opposition parties to allow discussion to take place in the House. He said already 10-11 days have been wasted. “We want the discussion to take place; want to hear the Opposition. PM is ready to intervene in both the Houses”, he added.

Amid all the ruckus in the Parliament, the Lok Sabha passed the Taxation Law Second Amendment Bill 2016 on Tuesday. The Parliament witnessed uproar on the demonitisation issue as the Opposition parties demanded presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the House to discuss the issue. The Opposition parties shouted slogans while Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke in the Lok Sabha on the debate over Income Tax Bill.  Both the houses of Parliament were adjourned till 11 AM today. Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Government moved amendments in Income tax law after it saw that a few people were still trying to convert black money into white post-demonetisation.

Earlier today, Narendra Modi asked all BJP MPs and MLAs to give details of their bank accounts to Amit Shah from Nov 8 to Dec 31.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “We work in public domain, opposition criticizes us but reply is always given by the people who elect us”. On Tuesday, Narendra Modi asked all BJP MPs and MLAs to give details of their bank transactions from Nov 8 to Dec 31 to the party president Amit Shah during the BJP parliamentary board meeting.

On Monday too, the Opposition parties gave the government a tough time as the protest against demonetisation carried on both inside and outside the House. While Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi led the party workers in a protest outside Raj Bhawan, an unrelenting Opposition refused to allow either Houses to function.
