    Parliament LIVE Updates: Amid ruckus in the Parliament, the Lok Sabha passed the Taxation Law Second Amendment Bill 2016 today. Rajya Sabha too witnessed uproar as Opposition demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence in the House. The Opposition parties shouted slogans while Finance Minister Arun Jaitley spoke in the Lok Sabha on the debate over Income Tax Bill.

    Jaitley said that the intention of demonetisation was clearly to wipe out black money. Meanwhile, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “We work in public domain, opposition criticizes us but reply is always given by the people who elect us”.

    In his statement to media, Jaitley said that the government moved amendments in Income Tax law after it saw that a few people were still trying to convert black money into white post-demonetisation. Earlier today, Narendra Modi asked all BJP MPs and MLAs to give details of their bank accounts to Amit Shah from Nov 8 to Dec 31.

    Parliament LIVE Updates: Ruckus continues in Parliament. Lok Sabha adjourned till 2:30 PM as uproar continues over demonetisation issue

New Delhi, Nov 29: It has been over a week since the Winter Session of Parliament commenced. The opposition parties have continued to put on hold all the debate ad proceedings in both the houses of the Parliament by creating chaos against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation move. The Opposition declared a Bharat Bandh on Monday, which Congress termed as ‘Jan Akrosh Diwas’. Protests were held inside and outside Parliament, demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s presence for a debate on the banning of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes.

On Tuesday, Opposition parties started raising slogans and came to the well, Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien adjourned the Rajya Sabha till 11 am. However, Home Minister Rajnath took a jibe at the Opposition parties and said the demonetization decision is been taken after much deliberation and is taken in the nation’s interest. He assured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come and make his intervention.

Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that this was a first when the Prime Minister took such a big decision and has since not addressed the House even once. “If Prime Minister makes a major announcement, he should also give a statement on the first day of Parliament according to the protocol. This is the first time that the Prime Minister did not give a statement in this house or the other after making a major announcement,” said Azad added. Meanwhile, Randeep Surjewala termed the demonetisaion decision as the biggest scam adding that it has has paralysed the economy. “When the colour of new notes will fade, what is the use? How’ll it stop fake currency,” Surkewala asked.

To keep the Parliament functioning going, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley moved the amendment in taxation Law in Lok Sabha. The amendment bill proposes 30 per cent tax on undisclosed income plus 10 per cent penalty beside a 33 per cent surcharge. The Bill also proposes a 75 per cent tax and 10 per cent penalty in case Income Tax authorities detect undisclosed wealth deposited after the announcement of the demonetization decision.
