New Delhi, April 7: In a yet another unfortunate incident of its kind, a man was forced to carry his mother on the back after hospital authorities failed to provide stretcher to him. The incident happened at Sadar hospital of Buxar district.
Narrating his tale, Vijay Kumar, a resident of Sohani Patti, said that he has taken his ailing mother to the hospital as she was suffering from a respiratory disorder. The doctor has asked me to bring her to his chamber upstairs for a check-up.
Kumar further said that he requested hospital staffs to provide him stretcher but they didn’t give him. And my mother condition was deteriorating and I had no option left but to carry mother on my back.
As per The Times of India report, Buxar DM Arvind Kumar Verma as served a show-cause notice to the district civil surgeon and said strict action will be taken against those found responsible for this negligence.
Kumar said that when his call for ambulance service went unheard, he then approached social activist Ramji Yadav. When he came and called local mediapersons then the hospital administration sent an ambulance for ailing mother.
Some days back similar incident was reported where a woman was seen carrying her differently-abled husband on her back to the office of a chief medical officer in Mathura to obtain a disability certificate. The woman has said that she was running from pillar to post for the certificate since months but, none of the officials paid heed to her pleas. There have been several incidents in pasts too that portrayed the condition of hospitals and ambulances in remote places of the country.
