New Delhi, Jan 14: International flights and hotel booking website Kayak.com on Sunday revealed that Bihar’s capital Patna appeared second in top 10 trending tourist destinations across the globe. The website, after compiling data of searches from January 2016 to December 2017, said Patna has seen an increase of 125 per cent year-on-year in online searches.
The website stated that Srinagar has seen the steepest decrease in prices of flight tickets in previous years. The decrease could be attributed to new spell of violence in the valley. Srinagar was followed by another popular destination Port Blair. The island city saw a decline of 24 per cent in the prices of flight tickets.
The data also showed Indian people’s changing preferences in choosing their holiday destinations. The website stated that Bangkok has replaced Dubai as the top trending holiday destination amongst Indian travelers. However, New York retains its spot at number two on the list. Goa remained at the fourth place on the list.
The website clarified that the conclusions were derived by data based on travel dates between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, and search dates in the 12-month period preceding the travel dates.
