Lucknow, Mar 14: The results for Phulpur bye-election 2018 was declared on Wednesday, March 14. Samajwadi Party’s Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel registered a huge win on Phulpur Lok Sabha seat defeating BJP’s Kaushlendra Singh Patel by 59,613 votes

The Phulpur seat went vacant last year when Keshav Prasad Maurya took over as the Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Since it was a BJP seat after 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Phulpur bypoll was being seen as a prestige battle for the ruling party. (Live updates on Gorakhpur bypoll results)
However, Phulpur recorded a dismal voter turnout as voting took place on Sunday, March 11. Only 37.39 per cent votes were cast on the Phulpur Lok Sabha Constituency. It remains to be seen which party has the low voter turnout benefited.
In Phulpur, Kaushalendra Singh Patel of the BJP, Nagendra Pratap Singh Patel of the SP and Manish Mishra of the Congress Party were in fray.
