New Delhi, April 1: Addressing a joint press conference after the diplomatic talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Abdul Razak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is willing to extend the scope of bilateral relationships with Malaysia and signing of seven Memorandum of understandings is a testimony to the India’s commitment. Referring the decision of demonetisation, Malaysian Prime Minister said that PM Modi took bold and courageous decision in reforming the economy.

PM Modi said that the visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Najeeb Razak comes at a time when both countries are celebrating the anniversary of the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations. Acclaiming the role of Malaysian PM Nazeeb Rezzak in enhancing the bilateral relations, PM Modi said that contributions of Malaysian PM have been instrumental in forging relations and giving a meaningful direction to them. PM Modi acknowledged the support of Indians based in Malaysia in fuelling the Indian economy with their investments.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also appreciated the active participation of Nazeeb Rezzak government in deradicalisation of the region and preparing an anti-terrorist front to counter extremism. He also invited the Malaysian companies to invest in ambitious Smart cities project. Adding strength to economic relations, he said that India will help in setting up a fertiliser plant Malaysia. Similarly, Malaysia too will increase its exports of Urea. PM Modi said that both countries will recognise the educational degrees of their universities. The step will help students aspiring of pursuing a professional and academic degree in Malaysia.

Reciprocating the concerns voiced by his Indian counterpart, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdul Razak said that Malaysia will share its experience in deradicalising the country and a conference will take place in near future to help India in minimising the impact of religious extremism. He also showered accolades on Tamil cinema and said that he is eagerly waiting for the second version of Rajnikant starrer Kabali. He also drew attention to the cultural roots in the Malay language.
