Posters by RJD Supporters in Patna Target JD(U) Leaders For ‘Speaking on Behest of Sushil Modi’
The posters targeted JD(U) spokespersons for defying Nitish Kumar's order and speaking out of turn against the RJD.
Patna, July 23: Amid the growing strains in Bihar’s ruling grand alliance, posters have propped up in the state capital, targeting four senior Janata Dal (United) leaders – Shyam Rajak, Neeraj Kumar, Sanjay Singh and Ajay Alok. The posters accused the above mentioned JD(U) members of targeting Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on the orders of Sushil Kumar Modi, BJP veteran and former deputy chief minister.
The posters, however, did not target JD(U) chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar. “Jab ki Nitish ji ne manaa kiya hai, uske bavajood yeh log baaz nahi aa rahe hai (Despite Nitish ji instructing them not to, these leaders have not refrained themselves),” the posters said, referring to the recent remarks made against RJD by the above JD(U) spokespersons.
The posters further accused Sushil Modi of using them as pawns to deteriorate the JD(U)-RJD ties. “And all this is happening on behest of Sushil Modi,” the posters read. ALSO READ: Tejashwi Yadav Can’t Continue as Deputy CM, Nitish Tells Rahul
Modi, however, rejected the allegations calling them baseless. The BJP leader said his party would demand the sacking of Tejashwi Yadav, the tainted Deputy CM, in an organised manner in the Assembly. “We have called a legislature party meet on 26th July, where the strategy would be formulated. In the House, I would ask Nitish Kumar to explain why someone with such serious corruption charges continues to sit besides him,” Modi said, while speaking to NDTV.
The JD(U)-RJD ties suffered a blow following the CBI raids on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and his kin on July 7, in relation to alleged land-for-hotel scam dating back to his tenure as the Railway Minister.
The FIR registered by CBI names Tejashwi, among other accused in the case. The Yadav scion, however, rejected the charges, saying he was barely 14-years-old in 2004, when the alleged corrupt deal was inked.
The JD(U) has demanded Tejashwi to either issue a public clarification, defending the charges levelled against him, or resign till the probe is concluded. However, Tejashwi said he would launch a rebuttal against the CBI at the RJD’s mega-rally planned on August 27.
