New Delhi, December 8: Palestinian Ambassador to India, Adnan Abu Alhaijaa on Thursday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit  Jerusalem very soon. The announcement came a day after US President Donald Trump announced his plans to shift the US embassy from Tel Aviv in Israel to Jerusalem.

While participating in a discussion on Rajya Sabha TV, Alhaijaa, said,”I will announce here and no one before you knows that PM Modi will visit Palestine.” (Also read: US Warns Its Envoys From Visiting Jerusalem Amid Fear of Violence Over Trump’s Embassy Move) “India has been supportive of the Palestinian cause and the two-state solution,” he added and also sought support from ‘whole world’ against the Trump administration’s decision.

Alhaijaa, however, did not elaborate when the visit will take place.

Yesterday, while addressing media, External Affars Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had that said India’s position on Palestine is shaped by its own views and interests and not determined by any third country.

Earlier in July, Modi became the first prime minister of India to visit Israel but he stayed away from Jerusalem.
