New Delhi, June 19: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi turned 47 on Monday. The Gandhi scion is in abroad to with his maternal grandmother and would be spending a few days with his relatives.

Cutting across the political line, leaders wished the Amethi MP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to wish Rahul and said, “Birthday greetings to the Congress Vice President, Shri Rahul Gandhi. I pray for his long and healthy life.”

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, “Warmest wishes to Rahul Gandhi. May your bounden belief in righteousness and truth and simplicity of purpose inspire always.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended greetings to Rahul on his birthday. “Birthday greetings to Rahul Gandhi. Wishing you happiness and good health for many, many years to come,” the Trinamool Congress supremo tweeted.

Rahul is likely to take over as Congress president in October this year when party’s internal elections will be held.
