New Delhi, Dec 1: A day after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s verified twitter account got hacked, the party on Thursday filed a complaint with the Delhi Police cyber cell to investigate the matter. The account showed a series of tweets with about a dozen offensive tweets posted within minutes. These offensive tweets kept rolling on his Twitter account @OfficeOfRG and were being deleted immediately. As per details, the first six tweets were deleted shortly after being posted around 8.45 pm.

The hackers also removed Gandhi’s profile picture and the account description was changed to “This is the official account of the Office of Retard Gandhi”. As per reports by PTI, Rahul Gandhi’s office said efforts were being made to rectify the problem. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala took to twitter and said such lowly tactics will never drown the sane voice of reason nor deter Rahul Gandhi from rising.  He then raised questions on the digital safety and said it reflects disturbing insecurities of the prevalent fascist culture in the country. Delhi police sources on Wednesday said they were awaiting for a formal complaint from Congress and that as soon as they get a complaint, an FIR wil be filed.

On Wednesday, Surjewala was quoted by ANI saying that the Congress party has taken the issue very seriously and will be lodging a formal complaint with the Cyber Polic. He said the Congress Party sincerely hopes that the government will show sincerity of purpose in investigating those who are perpetuating this crime and will punish them within a time-bound frame.(ALSO READ: Hacking of Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter: Congress targets Centre over poor digital safety)

Surjewala further added saying that such unscrupulous, unethical and roguish conduct of venal trolls to hack Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter handle reflects disturbing insecurities of prevalent fascist culture. Surjewala took a jibe at the government for lack of digital safety saying if it could not protect a private platform for conversation of crores of the people of India, how it could ever protect them from being hacked in terms of their financial money.
