Rajsamand, Dec 7: A man was burnt alive allegedly for committing ‘love jihad’ in Rajsamand in Rajasthan. Justifying the act, the accused, identified as Shambunath Raigar, said that he burnt the Muslim man to ‘save a girl from love jihad’. Raigar even uploaded the video of the shocking act on social media. The victim, identified as Mohammed Bhatta Sheikh, was a labourer from West Bengal. Raigar was arrested this morning.
“Accused has been arrested and a special investigation team (SIT) has been set up for investigation in the case,” said Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria.
The video shows a man being hacked to death by Raigar on Dev heritage road in Rajnagar area in Rajsamand, Rajasthan. The victim was even heard pleading Raigar for his life. In the video, Raigar attacks the man from behind, beats him up with an agricultural equipment, pours kerosene on him and sets him on fire.
“Jihadists, leave our country or you will meet the same fate,” he later says in the video. He also asked the Hindu community people to stay away from Muslim community people.
The police had earlier received information about a half-burnt body being found by some locals. The equipment, the victim’s bike, and his slippers were also found from the crime spot.
“It is shocking how he killed the man and made a video of it. Accused has been arrested and a special investigation team (SIT) has been set up for investigation in the case,” said Gulab Chand Kataria, Rajasthan Home Minister on the incident.
