Rajnath Singh warns Pakistan of strong retaliation on cross border terrorism
"We will not be the first to strike, but if we are hit, we will give a befitting reply"
New Delhi, July 27: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has assured of stiff retaliatory action towards Pakistan if it the country continues to indulge in cross border terrorism. Singh indicated strict action against the neighbouring nation if it continues to cause menace along side the border.
The Home Minister sounded frustration over the fresh infiltration bids suspected to be sponsored by Pakistan. “Can’t understand why Pakistan is initiating repeated cross border attacks,” he said. Rajnath Singh reiterated government’s earlier stand of maintaining good terms with Pakistan but not at the cost of cross-border terrorism. “We want peace with Pakistan, but not at the cost of national honour,” he added. Singh has made it clear that the government would not tolerate repeated violations from Pakistan. The minister has assured of counter-attack against Pakistan in the future. “We will not be the first to strike, but if we are hit, we will give a befitting reply,” he said.
The attack in Gurdaspur earlier in the day by armed terrorists has claimed the lives of at least six people including a Punjab Police SP Baljit Singh. The nation has been put on high alert following the attacks. The counter insurgency operation is underway, with two out of four infiltrators successfully eliminated.
