Jodhpur, Apr 7: Bollywood actor Salman Khan was granted bail by the Jodhpur court on Saturday. He is likely to leave Jodhpur Central Jail today. Next hearing in the case is scheduled for May 7. The ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ actor was lodged in Barrack No. 2, where rape accused Asaram Bapu is housed, as Kaidi number 106 for two nights.

Meanwhile, the hearing in Asaram Bapu rape case was held at the Jodhpur SC/ST Court on Saturday. The court has set April 25 as the date for the announcement of the verdict. The self-styled godman was sent to jail in 2013 after being accused of raping a schoolgirl. (LIVE UPDATES ON SALMAN KHAN BAIL HEARING)

While coming out of the court after the hearing, Asaram Bapu reacted on Salman Khan getting bail and said, “Koi bhi bahar jaata hai to acchi baat hai (It is a good thing if anyone goes out of the jail).” Adding further, he hailed the ‘Dabangg’ actor for following his advice and quitting cigarette smoking and cutting down the excessive intake of coffee. He also said that Salman Khan is a good human.

Salman Khan had applied for bail as soon as he was convicted in blackbuck poaching case on Wednesday. The court had sentenced him to five years in jail with a fine of RS 10,000.

The actor was the only one to be convicted in the case that pertains to blackbuck poaching way back in 1998 while the stars were shooting for Hum Saath Saath Hain in Jodhpur. Actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Neelam, were let off for lack of evidence.

Salman was charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act (to be read with Section 149 of the Indian Penal Code).
